Dublin woman shares her weight loss tips after shedding three and a half stone in only six months

Dublin woman Paula has shared her advice for sustainable weight loss after shedding an incredible 50 pounds, or three and a half stone.

The mum of three decided she wanted to shed some weight after feeling uncomfortable within her body and wanting to get her confidence back.

Paula managed to lose 50 pounds three times over – showing it can be done if you put your mind to it.

She initially lost the weight a number of years ago after gaining weight throughout two pregnancies, losing it again both times after she gave birth. After some weight gain a few years ago, she shed the 50 pounds once more.

She told RSVP Live: “I joined Weightwatchers and the first time around I lost 50 pounds in about six months just by sticking to the plan.

“I love food, I love everything, there’s nothing I don’t like! For me, I had to teach myself discipline. But I don’t cut out anything. I feel like if you cut out something, you want it more.”



As well as losing weight, Paula has become super fit over the years – swimming an amazing 87 lengths for Epilespy Ireland in January

For Paula, the key was eating the foods she wanted to eat but altering them to make them healthier options. This is something Paula loves doing, and began sharing her recipes and meal ideas in a weight loss Facebook group during lockdown.

Paula wants everyone who is thinking about losing weight to remember it is a journey, with its own ups and downs and there is times when life will get in the way. However, the most important thing is to do your best and keep going.

“Never give up,” said Paula. “I never thought I’d be able to lose 50 pounds.

“One day at a time is key, it’s not a race. It is a journey, the road doesn’t end.

“The road has obstacles and you might make a wrong turn but that’s okay.”
